Happy Pets Holidays offers home boarding for dogs and small pets in our family home in Leatherhead Surrey. No-one likes the thought of having to put our beloved dogs into kennels where they are kept in a cage, left alone with little interaction with other dogs or with people. Well now you don't have to. Home boarding is a much nicer and stress free approach to ensure your dog is happy and well looked after if you want a short break away, business trip, family holiday, day care or even have to go into hospital.
Home Boarding
I will look after your dog in my loving family home where they will be looked after from the moment they arrive. We understand that for any dog being away from their own home environment can be a stressful time. Especially going to stay with someone they dont know in a house they dont know.
So Happy Pets Holidays offers a personal and calming approach by normally only having one persons dog/dogs at a time for boarding rather than a large group of dogs which relieves some of the stress and a lot of the noise levels. Your dog can then get to know my two labradors in my quiet home and enjoy their holiday, coming home to you relaxed, groomed, exercised and happy.
You will need to bring their own bed, toys, food and bowl and we will follow their own routine for feeding and exercise as they would normally have at home, with lots of added playtime and cuddles!.
I will let you know about the things we worry about such as eating all their food or if they settle well at night, You will be sent regular texts or emails so that you know your dog is well and happy while you are away or if there are any problems. I also take photos during their stay with us so you have pictures of their holiday too.
I have a secure garden and live within a 5 min walk to our local park and close to other fields, woods and parks.
Unlike many of the boarding places around I always take the dogs for two long walks per day which is included in the price.
Dogs will always be sleeping inside our home with our own dogs, not outside or in a cage.
As you will see from my guest book page, I have lots of happy customers coming back time and time again which is lovely for me and reassuring for you.
Happy Pets Holidays does get booked very quickly for school holidays so please call to book your holiday well in advance.
Please note that as we offer a day care service, another dog maybe present during one of the days while your dog is boarded.
Day care dogs do not stay overnight. Owners will be informed if a dog is booked in for Day Care during the stay of their dog and we will ensure all dogs get along and have plenty of play and attention.
Trial Sessions
Many dog boarders agree to take on dogs for boarding and day care without meeting the dog first or knowing how the dog will behave once among other dogs.
We always ask new dogs to come for a trial session as we feel it's very important to assess the dogs behaviour and it gives both you and your dog a chance to visit us, our home and our dogs so that they feel more at home once they come to stay.
This trial also gives us the chance to assess how your dog and ours interact with each other and to ensure all dogs are happy. I would rather turn a client away than have a really unhappy dog. The dogs happiness and well being must come first, both your dogs and mine.
Trial sessions can be booked any day of the week except sunday morning and last between 2-4 hours as agreed. A whole day trial can be booked if required. You are under no obligation to book your dog holiday with Happy Pets Holidays by booking a trial session. Payments for a trial are non-refundable and must be paid on the day.

Pets we can look after
We can look after any breed of dog although sometimes dogs just don't get on, which is why a trial is important.
We can also look after small caged animals but unfortunately due to our own dogs, we do not look after cats. (sorry but we no longer do home visits)
After lots of trial and error, We have decided that we cannot book un-neutered males (unless puppies under 6 months)
We can also look after young puppies from 12 weeks old. I just ask that they are fully vaccinated, flea treated, wormed and toilet trained. Paper trained will be accepted only after a trial assessment. We will not accept puppies under 12 weeks as feel they are far too young to be left with a stranger. Day care for puppies ideally should be no longer than 7 hours as this is a very long time for them and they really pine when left so young. Sorry but we have to put the wellbeing of the puppy first.

Due to my own views and experience in dog care, we will not use a crate or choke chains on any dog in our care so please do not ask.
If you wish to have your dog walked 'off lead' I will do this if I feel the dog can be trusted to return to me. But it is the owners responsibility to be absolutely sure of their dogs recall. Due to new conditions in our business insurance you must sign a disclaimer taking full responsibility as Happy Pets Holidays will not be held responsible for any dog that should run off. Your own Insurance for your dog is paramount. It is also essential that your dog is microchipped to ensure a speedy return if he should get lost/run off.
Unfortunately we cannot accept bitches in season (unless by prior arrangement) or any dogs who appear to be aggressive. It is important to inform us if your dog has any food issues or any possessive tenancies so that these can be dealt with carefully.
Your pet will receive the very best of care at Happy Pets Holidays, they are part of your family and while they are with us they are treated as our family too.
